Learn the movement.
Set the bridge head securely and choose a groove that supports the intended cue line. Hold the bridge steady with one hand while the other delivers the cue. Keep the reach and stroke compact enough to control.
Use an easy layout first, with a coach or experienced player demonstrating the grip and clearance. Avoid lifting or moving the bridge until the balls have cleared its path. Ask before borrowing another player’s equipment.
One useful set.
- Setup & action
- Have your coach demonstrate setup and grip, then practice an easy reachable outcome with the bridge.
- What to watch
- Does the bridge remain still while the cue moves?
- Practice format
- 10 attempts is a starting suggestion. Record the pattern, not just the best one.
A common complication.
Moving the bridge and cue together or trying a full-power stroke from an unfamiliar reach.
Change one thingPractice a short controlled delivery with the bridge head still.
What changes the result?
Your setup, the equipment, and the intended outcome affect the comparison. Use a repeatable starting point and a modest target; bring persistent technique questions to a coach.
